The Old Post Office,the 19th century semi-detached house next to the end of School Lane was, after the First World War, the village Post Office and newsagent.
To the immediate left of School Lane is a late 19th century semi-detached house. The part next to the end of School Lane was, after the First World War, the village Post Office and newsagent. Mrs Russell was postmistress and later Mrs Elsie Kimber from Fyfield Post Office.
On the left hand side of the same building, was once a bakery, the detached brick oven surviving in the back garden until recently. The photo shows the house, now called the Old Bakery, clearly labelled as 'Post Office' above the door. To the left of the door and sign is a card display, showing regiments of the British Army, suggesting that the photo was taken during the First World War.
