Family History - A mutual hobby of Genealogy
Our shared and main hobby for almost thirty years has been Family History and Genealogy. This interest led to computerising our records and so a love of computers and the internet began. I have now become quite addicted to creating Web pages, of which this is one and taking photographs with a digital camera to illustrate our findings. The camera has been an invaluable aid.

As a result of many years of family and local history, we have accumulated many different transcripts of these Berkshire [now Oxfordshire] villages of Kingston Bagpuize, Southmoor and Fyfield. On this website, we offer much of our work and show links to our transcripts of the 1891 census, lists of names of those buried in our church and chapel yards, people of the past, and some maps and photographs, all of which we hope will be of help to many family and local historians of this area.
Material from the notes and records we hold is in the process of being added to this site to allow it to be consulted by those interested in the history of Kingston Bagpuize with Southmoor from around the world. It is an ongoing project with no dead-line.
We have both been actively involved with Rootsweb Genealogical Mailing Lists for some years, and I was also subscribed to Freehelp, and Frontpage Help - Rootsweb mailing lists in which members help each other with their website problems. It was on this list that Pat Geary offered me help to redesign several of my websites and put me onto the right road towards SEO Techniques.
One of Pat's later web designs Genealogy Web Creations is of great help to those who use Frontpage and Microsoft's Expression. I now participate as a pupil in the free online classes for SEO - Search Engine Optimization - offered by Cricket Bailey of GNC Web Creations.
I am still learning, but I volunteered to design the Longworth and District History Society website, this was followed in early 2008 with a redesign using Expression Web. Peter is now able to sell History Society books via the Parish Chest, an online bookstall. I maintain this site for the History Society.
Earlier I had designed the Thematic Trails website for Janet and Peter Keene. I then changed the Thematic trails website into one minus themes by adding a Cascading Style Sheet and includes. This site is owner-maintained.
Pat helped me by designing a better website for our W.I. as up until then I had been using Frontpage themed pages.
Again with Pat Geary's help, Pat and I worked on Grave Matters a website on Transcribing Memorial Inscriptions, which again is owner maintained.
Using one of Pat's layouts, I have recently re-designed and maintain the Kingston Bagpuize with Southmoor Womens' Institute website
