The Protestation Returns of 1641 are a bit like an early census for us today, as all males between the ages of 18 in a village had to swear an oath of allegiance to the Crown, Parliament and to the Protestant religion, 'an oath to defend the "true religion'".

Lest we Forget keeps in memory those who died on the Wars fighting for freedom.
